The Signature of All Things and Other Writings

The German mystic Jacob Boehme disccourses at length a fundamental law of Magic: the law of signatures, which is the concept that every object in the three dimensional world has a hidden meaning, and moreover, how those signatures interact with each other. Mystical Christianity is at the root of Boehme's philosophy, but his beliefs differed from the prevalent Lutheran establishment of his time, causing him persecution the entirety of his life. Boehme's universe is one where a creative and destructive principle are continually in conflict, a perspective later cited by Nietzsche, Newton and Phillip K Dick as influential to their works.
