Marc Notes: Version: 20150101--Title page verso.; A Morgan & Claypool publication as part of IOP Concise Physics--Title page verso.; Includes bibliographical references.; The ability to arrange precisely designed patterns of nanoparticles into a desired spatial configuration is the key to creating novel nanoscale devices that take advantage of the unique properties of nanomaterials. While two-dimensional arrays of nanoparticles have been demonstrated successfully by various techniques, a controlled way of building ordered arrays of three-dimensional (3D) nanoparticle structures remains challenging. This book describes a new technique called the 'nanoscopic lens' which is able to produce a variety of 3D nano-structures in a controlled manner. This ebook describes the nanoscopic lens technique and how it can serve as the foundation for device development that is not limited to a variety of optical, magnetic and electronic devices, but can also create a wide range of bio-nanoelectronic devices.; Also published in print.; Mode of access: World Wide Web.; Michael R. Hamblin Ph. D. is a Principal Investigator at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, an Associate Professor of Dermatology, Harvard Medical School and the affiliated faculty of Harvard-MIT Division of Health Science and Technology. He directs a laboratory of around twelve scientists who work in photodynamic therapy and low-level light therapy. He has published 274 peer-reviewed articles, is Associate Editor for 8 journals and serves on NIH Study-Sections. He has edited 10 proceedings volumes together with four other major textbooks on PDT and photomedicine. In 2011 Dr. Hamblin was honored by election as a Fellow of SPIE. Dr. Shanmugamurthy Lakshmanan is a Research Scientist at Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts. His research focus is on connecting Nanotechnology with Ancient Indian Medical technologies namely Siddha and Ayurveda. He is a distinguished Scientific Advisor, VICE President for International Research and the Direct and Head of Indian Division of Sciences for the World Institute for Scientific Exploration. He is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of two peer reviewed international journals: 1) Ancient Science and 2) Ayurveda that has been established by Vedic Research International Inc. He is also the Chair and Research Director representing the Research and Development division of the Association of the Ayurvedic Physicians of North America.; Title from PDF title page (viewed on February 3, 2015).
